Carmen spent over a decade at the bench, earned her PhD in neuroscience at University College London, held research fellowships at Tufts and UCSF, and led antiviral drug target discovery at King's College London. She founded Elnora in 2024 to turn the data a lab already has, including the experiments that failed, into protocols it can run. She holds the Chris Gibson Founder Fellowship, was named to the 2025 Mayfield and Divot AI List, and is a 2026 Women Tech Awards honoree.

Risto has a PhD in neuroscience from King's College London, where he built automated behavioural testing platforms and neural data pipelines from scratch. At Elnora he has built the production platform, the backend, the frontend and the machine learning under it, AI-assisted under his direction. He co-facilitates the workshops and mentors the teams on build day.

Why we built it

A scientist runs an experiment and it fails. The result goes in a drawer, and the next person to ask that question starts where the first one did. Most of what a lab learns is negative data, and it stays in the lab.

Science moves at the speed of what gets shared. Drug discovery has the number for it: Eroom's law, which is Moore's law spelled in reverse, says the new drugs approved per billion dollars of research spending have halved roughly every nine years since 1950.

AI is the superpower that turns that around. Elnora reads what a lab has already run, the failures included, and writes the next experiment from it, so the week goes back to the questions worth asking.

How we work

Two people and an army of AI agents.

We wrote the agents for our own company, and they keep the books, gather the compliance evidence, tidy the issue tracker, draft the writing and run the scheduled jobs that open a pull request before either of us is awake. We are AI native in and out.

We are Estonian. Carmen moved her family from Estonia to Salt Lake City in January 2025 to build Elnora full time, and Elnora AI, Inc. has been there since. Elnora AI OÜ, in Estonia, serves customers across the EU and the UK.

Elnora holds an ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification and a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation, and your data is never used to train models.
