A two-hour hands-on agents workshop for the YESS 2026 programme, with participants building and running their own agents during the session rather than watching one.

The session was built around building rather than lecturing. Participants created and ran agents during the two hours, on the premise that the distance between reading about agents and operating one accounts for most of the useful understanding.

The material covered what an agent is once the terminology is removed, then the factors that decide whether one is useful in practice: which tools it can reach, what it is prohibited from doing, how its output is reviewed, and what happens when it is wrong.
