Elnora & UniteLabs Hackathon in Munich
Elnora and UniteLabs held a two-day hackathon on 9 and 10 July 2026 at the UniteLabs Demo Lab in Munich. Elnora founder Carmen Kivisild and CTO Risto Jamul worked alongside UniteLabs co-founder and co-CEO Lukas Bromig and his team, with one goal: connect the Elnora agent to the UniteLabs SDK and have it control real laboratory hardware.
The two companies do complementary work. UniteLabs builds the software layer that connects and orchestrates laboratory instruments. Elnora builds the agent that turns a scientist's goal into a workflow. Joined together, a scientist can describe what they want done and watch it execute on the bench.
The teams pulled real instruments onto the bench and built a working prototype in under two days. Through the UniteLabs SDK, Elnora opened and closed the door of an Inheco SCILA incubator, then moved a plate on a Hamilton Microlab STAR.
For the plate move, a scientist asked Elnora in plain language to move the plate from the front position to the back. The agent listed the instrument services available over the SDK, wrote the workflow and ran it in simulation. It then asked the scientist to confirm the physical deck matched the layout, and on the reply "ready" deployed the workflow and ran it on the instrument. The hardware run completed all five steps in 46 seconds.
Carmen presented the results to the wider UniteLabs team afterwards. UniteLabs has since published a video of the collaboration.
